Germany, Wehrmacht. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, with Cap Insignia

(Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber mit Mützenabzeichen). A mixed lot of items, including:

1. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k rifle with the bayonet attached and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from a rectangular plate, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Sohni, Heubach & Co., Idar-Oberstein, measuring 47.25 mm (w) x 61.80 mm (h), weighing 30.7 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of silver finish, in very fine condition.

2. A Heer tropical pith helmet shield, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse executed in a black, white (substituted with silver), and red Wehrmacht tri-colour motif, the reverse retaining all three attachment prongs, unmarked, measuring 36 mm (w) x 42 mm (h), demonstrating some loss of finish to the base metal, in better than very fine condition.

3. A Luftwaffe EM/NCO’s visor cap cockade, constructed of a silvered zink alloy, the reverse retaining both attachment prongs, unmarked, measuring 142 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), demonstrating some loss of finish to the base metal and repair of one of the prongs, in very fine condition.
