Description
Description
(Wehrmacht Tropenhose). An example of tropical Wehrmacht (Heer) service trousers as worn by enlisted personnel in the entire Mediterranean theater of war, including Africa and Southern Italy. This pair of service trousers is constructed of olive-drab coloured cotton twill, the front with one diagonal-slit pocket at waist height per side, with a horizontal-slit fob pocket to the left of the right-side pocket, with an additional horizontal-slit pocket on the ride side of the reverse, secured shut a single stamped zink button. The front flaps are secured shut via six matching vertically mounted stamped zink buttons that are met by matching reinforced button-holes on the opposing side. On the waistline is an integrated belt, exiting through the front, weaved through a three-claw magnetic buckle, and then weaved through a single belt loop. These trousers are unlined, for the exception of the waistband, crotch, and pockets, which are lined with off-white cotton. On the inside seam of these trousers are a total of four stamped zink buttons mounted to beltholes, with the addition of two more straps towards the rear of the waistband with matching stamped zink buttons on the ends, for the suspension of optional suspenders. The inseam on the interior along the right-hand side is stamped “0/0415/0171” along with “180, 134” and “82” in black, partially faded ink. This pair measures approximately 42 cm across the waist (seam to seam), with an inseam of 74 cm, and an overall length of 103 cm. A field-worn example, demonstrating material fatigue and light soiling from wear, with repair evident to the crotch and select few small holes in the obverse of the fabric, in overall very fine condition.
