Canada, Commonwealth. A Second War Nursing Sister's Waistbelt

Buckle with a two-piece construction, the portion of the buckle on the right end of the belt composed of three separate pieces: the lion on crown insignia in silver-nickel, mounted to a circular brass tab affixed to a brass bar, the bar attached to an ornate loop designed with oak leaves and acorns, maker marked "SCULLY LTD. MONTREAL" on the reverse, the portion of the buckle on the left end of the belt voided in the middle in order to receive the circular portion on the right portion of the buckle, the outer ring of the buckle designed with laurel leaves and attached to an ornate loop designed with oak leaves and acorns, the buckle measuring 92.5 mm (w) x 48.2 mm (h) when the two portions are linked together, brass loop and leather length adjustment loop affixed to the leather belt, the belt with a polished cinnamon brown upper and raw underside, measuring 765 mm in length x 37 mm in width, greening evident on the underside of the two brass portions of the buckle, light wear on the belt, better than very fine. 

Footnote: These waistbelts with their distinctive buckle clasps, were part of the uniform worn by all nursing sisters. They changed little over the years and were among the nurses' most popular keepsakes once their nursing careers had ended.
