A large lithograph and paper, First War propaganda poster, featuring a silhouette of father and son with the surrounding text “WHAT WILL YOUR ANSWER BE when your boy asks you - ‘FATHER - WHAT DID YOU DO TO HELP WHEN BRITAIN FOUGHT FOR FREEDOM IN 1915?’ ENLIST NOW”, printed by Ghorley & Pickersgill Ltd Leeds and London, and published by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, No. 61, measures 53.5 cm (w) x 75.5 mm (l), with a reinforced left edge bearing four holes, minor creases and wear to edges, cracks and curling to the bottom edge, remains in near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The PRC was the first official propaganda agency in Britain during the war, operating from August 1914 to the end of 1915. This poster was one of many created during a period of voluntary enlistment before conscription was introduced.
