Spain, Kingdom. An Order of Isabella the Catholic, Knight

(Orden de Isabel la Católica). Instituted 1815 by King Ferdinand VII/Fernando VII. In silver gilt, a red enamelled cross with faceted exterior, clusters of five smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion displaying Royal symbols, surrounded in a white ring inscribed A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA (To Pure Loyalty), the reverse medallion features the crowned cypher of Isabella II on a blue field, surrounded by a white ring inscribed POR ISABEL LA CATOLICA (For Isabel the Catholic), the cross is surmounted with a green enamelled wreath to which a ribbon has been tied around in a bow, measures 48.17mm (w) x 76.77mm (h), weighs 35.3 grams, enamel damage to obverse inscription ring, reverse medallion and ring and wreath, the tip of each ray has had it’s ball finial crudely removed leaving rough tips, replacement integral ring, overall a better than fine decoration.

Accompanied by an independent section of ribbon.
