(Königlicher Militär St. Heinrichs-Orden - Ritterkreuz). Instituted 7 October 1736 by Elector August III. (1736-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled and folded arms trimmed with white enameled borders, each joined through the quadrants by green enameled rue crowns, the obverse overlaid by a central enameled medallion bearing a hand-painted depiction of St. Henry (Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor), situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “FRID. - AUG. - D. - G. - REX. - SAX. - INSTAURAVID”, the reverse bearing a central gilded and enameled Saxon coat of arms, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “VIRTUTI IN BELLO” (“VIRTUE IN WAR”), the twelve o’clock arm topped by a crown suspension with and eyelet and suspension ring retaining an original ribbon, the six o’clock arm maker marked with the logo of Alfred Rösner, Dresden, demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, a striking example of an ornate order in extremely fine condition.
