Description
Description
Based upon the British 1796 light cavalry sabre, this is a custom purchase sword, likely German manufactured and made to size for its owner. An officers sabre from the Napoleonic period, featuring a curved blade measuring 79 cm in length and still retaining faint etching including "Reale delle Due Sicilie" translating to “Royal [Kingdom] of the Two Sicilies”, as well as floral design moving up the length of the blade, it does exhibit wear, pitting but is structurally sound, the guard and hilt and in steel hold the wooden handle, wrapped in black leather firmly in place, accompanied by its scabbard which is narrow in design and in blacked steel with surface oxidization and having been pinched a centre length, missing one of two rings, a rare sword in fair condition.
