Italy, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown, Grand Cross Set in Gold, by Cravanzola

(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted on February 20th, 1868. An Order of the Crown of Italy, the sash badge, in Gold, a white enamel cross with savoy knots in each quadrant, the obverse medallion featuring a Lombardy crown on a blue enamel field, the reverse medallion featuring a black enamel eagle, measures 49.9 mm (w) x 52.9 mm (h - inclusive of the integral suspension), weighs 18.6 grams, accompanied by the full length sash, enamels intact, medallion slightly loose, in very fine condition. 

Accompanied by the Star of the Order, in silver, an eight point star featuring clusters of alternating smooth and faceted rays, the obverse medallion featuring a Lombardy crown on a blue enamelled field, surrounded by a gold ring then a white ring inscribed VICT. EMMAN. II. REX. ITALIAE. MDCCCLXVI, encircled by a ring of gilt facets, surmounted by a black enamelled eagle on the 12 o’clock arm, reverse presenting a vertical pin suspension, the cartouche of E. GARDINO SUCC. CRAVANZOLA ROMA, measures 79.7 mm (w) x 74.6 mm (h), weighs 60.8 grams, enamels intact, ray of the 6 o'clock tip has been broken off, remains near extremely fine. 

Contained in original case, red leatherette exterior with crowned VE monogram on the lid, the interior with silk marked E. GARDINO SUCC. D. CRAVANZOLA GIOIELLIERE ROMA, with blue velvet partial medal bed, measures 14 cm (w) x 28 cm (l) x 5.2 cm (d), functional hinge and clasp, light scuffing, remains extremely fine.
