A beautiful decoration, constructed of 14K Gold with enamels and precious gems totalling over 1 carat, the obverse consisting of a square and compass, the former graded with blue enamels, the latter bearing a silver trowel and hammer and topped by a round brilliant diamond, surrounding a central blue enameled letter “C” (Chicago), with stylized rays emanating from the edges, surrounding a glass gem featuring a translucent face, with dual chains emanating from the top edge of the compass and connecting to an ornate Gold banner decorated with two diamonds and two sapphires, bearing a blue enameled recipient name of “CHAS. E. DAVIS”, featuring a silver hanger in the form of a square, the reverse bearing an engraved inscription of “WORSHIPFUL MASTER, DEARBORN LODGE NO. 310, A.F. & A,M. CHICAGO ILL.”, the reverse of the banner with a barrel hinge and curved pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pendant measuring 70.38 mm (w) x 77.00 mm (h), the banner measuring 55.90 mm (w) x 28.35 mm (h) (exclusive of square hanger), weighing 41.9 grams overall (denoting a Gold value of approximately $1,700 USD), a striking honour decoration in near extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, folding open to reveal a blue velvet medal bed with a suspension hook, maker marked “LEBOLT & COMPANY” for the noted eponymous Chicago jeweller, measuring 145 mm (w) x 80 mm (h), demonstrating moderate material fatigue to the case with the loss of its exterior clasp, remains in very fine condition.
