Hungary, Kingdom. An Order of Merit, I Class Grand Cross Set, c. 1935

(Magyar Érdemrend). Instituted in 1922. In silver gilt with red, white and green enamels, measuring 52.1 mm (w) x 57.4 mm (h -inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension), weighs 39.50 grams, indentation and chipping evident in the green enamels on the bottom tip of the arm at 9 o'clock on both sides, on a full-length replacement sash incorporating a decorative moiré pattern, better than very fine. 

Accompanied by the Star of the Order, an eight point silver star with clusters of faceted rays, the obverse superimposed cross in silver gilt with red, white and green enamels, the reverse features a vertical pin, measures 87.5 mm (w) x 86.7 mm (h), weighs 88.80 grams, enamels intact, very dark patina, a strongly convex star, in near extremely fine condition.
