Gerrmany, Third Reich. A Unique H.J. Wilm Sports Prize Album

(Sportpreise Album). A unique album compilation produced by H.J. Wilm, the noted jeweller and producer of silverware founded by Gottfried Ludewig Wilm and which continued under the trade name of the founder’s son Hermann Julius, constructed of a sturdy card stock binding with a light grey canvas exterior liner, the cover bearing a gilt inscription of “EHRENGABEN SPORTSPREISE VON H.J. WILM, BERLIN”, the interior content consisting of 11 card stock pages separated by translucent paper liners to protect the images, the latter consisting of eleven black-and-white photographs showing razor-sharp images of elaborate silver sports trophies produced by the firm, issued for a variety of competitions including sailing, gliding, and equestrian events, some under the auspices of the Olympics, notably including examples bearing the personal coat of arms of Hermann Göring (who contracted the firm to produce a myriad of silverware, trophies, and vanity pieces), each situated above the company’s famous hallmark, measuring 27 cm (w) x 33 cm (h), the stitching formerly binding the album together has been lost with the interior pages consequently rendered loose, in addition to minor material fatigue throughout, a truly fascinating look at the array of fine silverware produced by a premier manufacturer whose existence spanned centuries, in better than very fine condition.
