Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Awards and Insignia

(Auszeichnung und Insignien). A mixed lot of items, including:

1. A War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939” (“FOR WAR MERIT 1939”), unmarked, measuring 32.41 mm in diameter, weighing 13.0 grams, in near mint condition.

2. A Heer Gebirgsjäger EM/NCO’s sleeve insignia, constructed of field-grey wool, the obverse bearing a machine-embroidered multi-coloured edelweiss situated within a knotted border topped by a piton, unmarked, measuring 55 mm (w) x 65 mm (h), in unissued and near mint condition.

3. A matching set of Luftwaffe Medical Leutnant collar tabs, each constructed of dark blue wool with buckram cores, trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, and bearing a silver aluminum wire gull above an oak leaf wreath of identical construction, both unmarked and measuring 55 mm (w) x 60 mm (l), demonstrating some material fatigue and degradation to the wire, in uniform-removed and very fine condition.
