Description

(Abzeichen). A pair of badges, including:

1. A 1944 Tyrolean Small Calibre Rifle Marksmanship Badge, constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central red Tyrolean-style German national eagle clutching a bullseye target overlaid by a mobile swastika, flanked by a date of “1944”, above an inscription of “KK-GEWHER”, the revere with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 52 mm in diameter, with minor loss of finish evident in addition to some bending of the pinback, in near extremely fine condition.

2. A Western France Luftwaffe District Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a map of France overlaid by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, topped by an inscription of “ALLES FÜR DEUTSCHLAND” (“EVERYTHING FOR GERMANY”), the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTLEISTUNGEN IM BEREICH DES FELDLUFTGAUKOMMANDOS WESTFRANKREICH” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE FIELD AIR COMMAND OF WESTERN FRANCE”), unmarked, measuring 40 mm in diameter, demonstrating moderate surface oxidation throughout, in very fine condition.
