A photograph of Hauptmann Richard Hofsass, signed in blue ink on the white border of the obverse, measuring 102 mm (w) x 152 mm (h); a studio portrait of Oberleutnant Dietrich Peltz, the reverse bears a white label with a note in black ink saying thank you for the letter and is signed by Dietrich Peltz, measuring 102 mm (w) x 150 mm (h); a drawn picture portrait of Oberleutnant Erich Geppert, signed on the reverse in blue ink, measuring 96 mm (w) x 151 mm (h), all very fine.
Footnote: Richard Hofsass was born 4 February 1914 and was a pilot in the Luftwaffe fighting on the Eastern Front. He was decorated with the Aviator Badge, Front Flying Clasp of the Luftwaffe, Honour Goblet of the Luftwaffe, German Cross in Gold, Iron Cross I and II Class and the Knight’s Cross. Dietrich Peltz was born on 9 June 1914 and entered the army in 1934. In 1935 he transferred into the Luftwaffe. He was a skilled bomber pilot and moved up quickly through the ranks, becoming the youngest General in the Wehrmacht. In August 1943 Peltz was appointed commanding general of the IX. Fliegerkorps (9th Air Corps) and was tasked with reviving the German bomber offensive as Angriffsführer England (attack leader England) against Britain and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords on 23 July 1943 for his leadership. He was also awarded the Front Flying Clasp of the Luftwaffe in Gold with Pennant "300", 1939 Iron Cross I and II Class, and Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. Erich Geppert was born 31 December 1912 and decorated with the Iron Cross I and II Class, General Assault Badge, Eastern Front Medal, Service Award of the Wehrmacht for 4 Years, and the Knight’s Cross.
