Description

(Sturmabteiluing Treffen Braunschweig Erinnerungsabzeichen, 1. Form). Constructed of silvered magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Sturmabteilung- (SA) style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, surrounding a central inscription of “SA TREFFEN BRAUNSCHWEIG 17./18. OKTOBER 1931”, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 36 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), demonstrating moderate loss of finish throughout, a Type I badge in better than very fine condition.

Footnote: Although debate regarding the authenticity of Type I badges with raised lettering long permeated the collector market, period photographs of this version of the badge provide solid evidence of its existence and period wear by recipients.
