Germany, Luftwaffe. An M35 Stahlhelm, Refurbished Example, by Eisenhüttenwerke Thale

(Luftwaffe Stahlhelm M35). A Luftwaffe M35 Stahlhelm (steel helmet), constructed of a single sheet of magnetic molybdenum steel which retains much of its original blue-grey paint. Three rivets are distributed around the outer circumference of the shell for the accommodation of the liner pins, while the upper crown is flanked by ventilation holes with crimped metal grommets. Directly below the left vent is a standard second pattern Luftwaffe decal, executed in silver-grey with feathering and details highlighted in black, measuring 64 mm (w) x 34 mm (h). Below the right vent is an additional decal in the form of a shield featuring a classic Wehrmacht black, white, and red tri-colour motif, measuring 32 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). The edge of the skirt is fully crimped for a smooth rim. A metal ring surrounds the interior, fixed in position with the liner pins. Affixed to the ring is a replacement tan leather liner which culminates in eight fingers, each perforated with five ventilation holes and an additional eyelet through which is looped a drawstring. Also emanating from the sides of the ring are magnetic metal loops which retain a replacement black leather chinstrap which fastens with a functional aluminum buckle. Stamped onto the lower right side of the skirt is a code of “ET64”, indicating manufacture by Eisenhüttenwerke Thale, with a shell size of 64. The chinstrap is also maker marked “R. LARSEN, BERLIN, 1938”, as commonly found on high-quality post-war reproduction leather accessories. The helmet measures approximately 22.5 cm (w) x 28 cm (l) x 15 cm (h). In addition to the replacement leather fixtures, the shell demonstrates moderate loss of paint, with scratching to the decals. This refurbished example remains in a very fine condition.
