Germany, Luftwaffe. A Luftwaffe Flak Ammunition Case

(Luftwaffe Munitionskasten). Constructed of pressed heavy card stock with a field-grey exterior, of multi-piece construction, fixed together with magnetic metal rivets along all edges, opening with a lid featuring an integrated hinge at one end and a loop at the other end meeting a rotating wooden lock, one side with malleable integrated card stock straps securing in place a wooden handle, the same edge with black ink inscription of “LUFTWAFFEN-MUNITION GESAMTGEW.” and “NICHT-HOCHKANT ÖFFNEN UND NICHT KANTEN” (“DO NOT OPEN UPRIGHT OR ALONG EDGES”), with an additional inscription of “3,7 CM” indicating that the case contained 2.7 cm flak cartridges, measuring 410 mm (l) x 250 mm (w) x 240 mm (h), material fatigue consisting with age and use is apparent, in overall better than very fine condition.
