Germany, Kriegsmarine. An Early White Service Uniform for a Radio Operator

(Kriegsmarine weisses Hemd und Klapphose für einen Funker). An early and extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine white service uniform, consisting of:

1. A service shirt, constructed of white cotton cloth. It features a blue cotton Kiel collar trimmed with three white cotton tresses. The cuff of each sleeve is overlaid by a layer of blue cotton which is decorated with white tresses, and has a vertical slash which fastens closed with a single gilded metal button bearing a fouled anchor. Stitched onto the upper left arm is a Radio Operator badge, consisting of a white cotton base bearing a machine-embroidered blue anchor overlaid by a lightning bolt, measuring 65 mm (w) x 80 mm (h). Stitched onto the upper right breast is an insignia consisting of a white cotton backer bearing a machine-embroidered blue Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 100 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). Unmarked, the shirt measures 55 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 55 cm, and an overall length of 78 cm. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, it remains in an extremely fine condition.

2. A matching set of trousers, constructed of an identical white cotton cloth. Four metal buttons are distributed across the front of the waistband, releasing a frontal flap, while a hidden French fly features two additional metal buttons which unfasten to release an integral belt. A shallow vertical slash set into the back of the waistband closes with a drawstring. The interior of the waistband is stamped with a manufacture date of “3. 2. 34.”, above an illegible depot code. Otherwise unmarked, the trousers measure approximately 42 cm (w) x 100 cm (l). Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, they remain in an extremely fine condition.
