Germany, HJ. A Pair of Corduroy Service Shorts

(HJ Kordhose). A pair of HJ service shorts, constructed of black corduroy cloth with a pronounced weave. Six belt loops are distributed around the waistband, while side straps of identical corduroy construction fasten closed with functional magnetic metal buckles to provide an integral belt apparatus. Two side pockets are set into the upper thighs, both opening with reinforced diagonal slashes, while two back pockets closed with scalloped flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes meeting bakelite buttons. The shorts close with a French fly featuring five hidden bakelite buttons. The interior features a partial grey cotton liner which surrounds the waistband, comprises the interior of the pockets and also reinforces the seat. Unmarked, the shorts measure approximately 38.5 cm across the waist, with a total length of 40 cm when folded on a flat surface. Minor material fatigue is visible to the exterior material, while the interior demonstrates some soiling and period hand-stitched repairs and modifications consistent. The shorts remain in a better than very fine condition.
