(Heer Insignien für einen Oberleutnant der Krafschützentruppe). A rare set of Heer Armoured Reconnaissance Oberleutnant insignia for a black wrap,
1. A pair of collar tabs, each constructed of black wool with a buckram core, trimmed with copper-brown piping, and pinned with a silvered feinzink Danziger-style Totenkopf, both unmarked and measuring 35 mm (w) x 70 mm (l), in uniform-removed and extremely fine condition.
2. A pair of shoulder boards, each constructed of copper-brown wool with rigid card stock cores, topped by four bands of silver aluminum wire piping, and pinned with gilt numerals “88” (Kradschützen-Bataillon 88) adjacent to a pip of identical construction, both unmarked and measuring 30 mm (w) x 120 mm (l), demonstrating minor material fatigue, in uniform-removed and near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Kupferbaun (copper-brown) Waffenfarbe (corps colour) was officially approved for use on Kradschützenbataillone (Motorcycle Reconnaissance Battalions) of Panzer and Armoured divisions on 15 September 1941.
