A Latin cross constructed of silver, with red and white enamelled arms, the obverse consisting of a central white enamelled medallion with a red enamelled red cross, surrounded by a ring of red enamels, inscribed “PATRIAE AC HUMANITATI” (Latin - For Country and Humanity) in silver gilt capital lettering, the arms of the cross enamelled with white enamels on the outer edge and red and red enamels on the interior of the arms, the reverse enamelled with a central white enamelled medallion dated “1864-1914”, suspended from loop for suspension, unmarked however of quality Rothe post 1945 manufacture, measuring 47.44 mm (w) x 60.96 mm (h-inclusive of integral ring), 26.8 grams, on full-length neck ribbon of the decoration, extremely fine.
