Yugoslavia, Republic. A Rare Medal for the Construction of the Pancevac Bridge over the Danube, with Award Certificate to Ivan Vasilievich, c. 1946

A scarce commemorative medal to the construction crew of the Pancevac bridge over the Danube, a circular gilded bronze medal, the obverse depicting an image of a bridge over a river, with the Coat of Arms of Yugoslavia and a winged locomotive wheel all within an open-ended laurel wreath, the reverse inscribed “For the Construction of the Pancevac Bridge over the Danube”, dated “1945-1946”, suspended from a medal bar bearing the Yugoslav Flag, with a screw-back suspension consisting of a threaded post and threaded nut, maker marked but illegible, measuring 36.8 mm in diameter, weighing 35.24 grams. 

Accompanied by a matching award certificate issued by the Yugoslav Ministry of Transportation, the inside of the certificate with a quote from Tito reading “Let's do everything to make 1946 a year of great victories in the reconstruction of our country”, issued to Ivan Vasilievich Penesichniy, measuring 97 mm (w) x 70 mm (l).
