(Kungliga Nordstjärneorden). Instituted on February 23rd, 1748. (c. 1925 issue). A Grand Cross Set of the Swedish Order of the Polar Star (also known as the Order of the North Star), consisting of:
1. The sash badge of the order, Type II, constructed of gilded silver and multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a white enameled Maltese Cross with ball finials, with gilt crowns in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse and reverse identical with a blue enameled central medallion bearing a five-pointed white enameled star, circumscribed “Nescit Occasum” (It knows no decline) in capitalized gilt lettering, with an ornate hollow Royal crown with a pierced ball and dual S shaped ring for suspension from its period original and full size sash, unmarked, measuring 55.4 mm (w) x 55.5 mm (l) excluding its crown suspension, weighing 34.80 grams, with multiple very shallow flakes to the white enamels of the cross, and to one of the arms of the central white enameled star, in very fine condition.
2. The breast star of the order, Type III, constructed of silver, consisting of a Maltese Cross with ball finials, the obverse of the star consisting of scaled arms (denoting Type III) with a cross-thatched design along the outer border of the award and with a central silver five-armed star, the reverse plain, with a circular nut where the central star on the obverse is attached, presenting a barrel hinge on a raised platform, with a broad vertical pin and thin round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 73.9 mm (w) x 74.4 mm (l), weighing 53.91 grams, with very faint glue remains on the reverse of the cross, and presenting a pleasant even patina from age, in near extremely fine condition.
