(Kungliga Nordstjärneorden). Instituted in 1748. Type II (with ball finials). In 18K Gold, a lovely white enamelled Maltese cross with ball finials, crowns in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a five point white star on a blue enamelled field inscribed NESCIT OCCASUM, reverse mirrors the obverse, the cross is surmounted by a large crown and worn on original black ribbon, measures 36.65mm (w) x 57.25mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned crown suspension), weighs 19.4 grams (including ribbon), minor enamel damage on several tips and on obverse medallion white star, otherwise remains in extremely fine condition.
Contained in original case of issue, red leatherette exterior with golden detailing around the edges, the interior lid in crème coloured silk marked C.F. CARLMAN STOCKHOLM, the base with a partial red velvet recessed medal bed with compartment for ribbon, measures 62mm (w) x 100mm (l) x 22mm (d), wear to exterior, graphite marks to interior lid and base, hinge and clasp functional, in very fine condition.
