Spain, Spanish State. A Rare Pilot and Observer Wing, Owner-Attributed Example, by Rokiski

Constructed of silver with gilt and enamels, the obverse consisting of a pair of vaulted eagle’s wings with feathering executed in high relief, overlaid by a central red enameled medallion, bearing a silver Falange-style Spanish national eagle overlaid by a set of gilt propellers defaced by a five-pointed star, with its head surrounded by a gilded halo and topped by an elaborate gilded crown, the reverse with a central lug securing the obverse applique in position, with two lugs retaining an original locking plate, bearing a hand-engraved owner’s name of “M. HERRER”, bearing a partially-legible mark of “ROK” for the firm of noted Madrid-based jeweller Rokiski, measuring 91.80 mm (w) x 36.58 mm (h), weighing 43.2 grams (inclusive of hardware), a high-quality example produced c. 1942 and commonly issued to Blue Squadron and Luftwaffe during the Second World War, in extremely fine condition.
