Spain, Kingdom. An Order of Isabella the Catholic, Grand Cross Breast Star, c.1900

(Orden de Isabel la Catolica). Instituted March 24, 1815. (1875-1931 Issue). In silver gilt and enamels, a four armed red enamel star with ball finials and clusters of seven smooth rays in each quadrant, obverse medallion is beautifully hand painted insignia of the order, surrounded by a green enamelled wreath with a white enamel banner inscribed A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA POR ISABEL LA CATOLICA (To Pure Loyalty, For Isabel the Catholic) with a surmounting crowned monogram of Ferdinand VII on a blue enamelled field, the reverse presents a vertical pin assembly with dual stays, unmarked, measures 77.64 mm (w) x 78.26 mm (h), weighs 64.49 grams, enamels intact, areas of gilt loss, catch and pin functional, in extremely fine condition.
