Spain, Kingdom. An Order of Isabella the Catholic, Commander in Gold, c.1900

(Orden de Isabel la Católica). Instituted March 24 1815.  In 18K Gold, a beautiful commander cross, a red Maltese cross with Gold textured border and ball finials, smooth rays in each quadrant, the central medallion featuring Spanish caravel encircled by a white enamel ring inscribed ALA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA, the reverse medallion presents a blue enamelled field with the monogram FR7, encircled by a white ring inscribed POR YSABEL LA CATOLICA, surmounted by a green and red enamelled wreath and attached to a suspension loop with white and orange enamelling to match the ribbon of the order, accompanied by a segment of period ribbon, measures 51.4 mm (w) x 74.7 mm (h), weighs 24.57 grams, slight enamel flakes on obverse medallion, cracks in reverse inscription ring, loss of green enamel to wreath, remains in better than very fine condition.
