(Real y Muy Distinguida Orden de Carlos III). Instituted September 19, 1771 by King Charles III. A lovely breast star, in silver, presenting a large faceted Maltese cross with ball finials with blue enamel details in the center of each arm, faceted fleur-de-lis in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents the cypher of Charles III surrounded by a green enamel wreath and a blue enamel ring with a faceted ring on each side, the reverse offers a single vertical pin flanked by dual stays, along with a wing closure for each blue ray in each arm, measures 75.0mm (w) x 80.7mm (h), weighs 74.8 grams, enamel chip to blue enamel in the 6 o’clock arm, and small flake in the blue enamel ring on the medallion, several rays slightly bent, remains a lovely star in extremely fine condition.
