Spain, Franco Period. A German-Made Order of Military Merit, III. Class Star, c.1940

(Cruces del Mérito Militar). Instituted August 3rd, 1864. (c. 1940 issue). Type VI. An eight-pointed gilded bronze multi faceted star with a large white enameled gilded Greek Cross with silvered rampant lions and castle towers in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a central enameled the obverse with a central emblem bearing the coat of arms of Castile, León, Aragon, Navarre, and Granada, topped by a gilt bar to bear the date of bestowal (blank) topped by a Royal Crown, the reverse is plain, with a functional vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 60.7 mm (w) x 60.6 mm (l), weighing 39.11 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
