(Orden de la Cruz de San Raimundo de Peñafort). Instituted 1944 by General Francisco Franco. 1944-present issue. With twenty-three links in silver consisting of ornamented squares with laces, alternating with six superposed enameled blue and red figure of St. Peñafort, completed by six superposed enameled white and red symbol of the Spanish justice inscribed by the Latin inscription JUSTITIA (Justice) both in silver gilt, with a palm wreath central link connecting the ends also in silver gilt, plain reverse, measuring 870 mm length, accompanied by the cross of the order in silver, a ball-tipped enameled white Maltese Cross, featuring the inscription S RAYMUNDUS / PENNAFORTI (St. Raymond of Peñafort) on the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock arms, surrounded by ornament laces in each quadrant and a vertical sword, obverse depicting a superposed enameled figure of St. Peñafort in silver gilt, with an enameled blue beneath ribbon inscribed by the Latin inscription IN JURE MERITA, with plain reverse, measuring 49.58 mm (w) x 69.85 mm (h - inclusive of palm wreath), presenting oxidation on the links, extremely good.
