(Orden de Cisneros). Instituted by General Francisco Franco in 1944. 1944-1975 issue. A delicate and highly desirable miniature breast star in Gold, consisting of nicely enameled red Maltese Cross with ball finials, each of these embellishing by finely cut brilliant Diamonds, exhibiting delicate crossed Gold arrows in each quadrant, obverse centre with detailed hand-painted period Spanish eagle in enamels, reverse with button for attachment, measuring 24.19 mm (w) x 24.31 mm (h), light contact, near to mint; accompanied by an original hard-shelled case in brown thread, the interior lid with jewelry label of Villanueva y Laiseca, Madrid, with black cotton medal bed, measuring 75 mm (w) x 25 mm (h) x 80 mm (l), with flayed medal bed and general stained exterior, functional press-button, case fine.
Footnote: The Order of Cisneros was instituted by General Francisco Franco on March 8, 1944. It was created after the end of the Spanish Civil War to reward those who served to Franco during the war, and who collaborated on the establishment of the new government. The Order was awarded either to Spanish or foreign citizens in recognition of political merit and outstanding service to the national cause within Spain.
