(Real y Militar Orden de San Hermenegildo). Instituted in 1814 by King Ferdinand VII. Franco’s government issue. In bronze gilt, a miniature of a white enameled Pateé Cross, with obverse centre in blue enamels exhibiting a figure of St. Hermenegild, encircled by the inscription PREMIO A LA CONSTANCIA MILITAR (Award to Military Constancy), with plain reverse, crowned by a typical of period time Spanish crown, measuring 13.79 mm (w) x 19.79 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), with stained white enamels, better than very fine.
Footnote: The Royal and Military Order of St. Hermenegildo was founded in Spain by King Ferdinand VII after the end of the Peninsular War, on November 28, 1814. It was established in recognition of either Spanish or foreign military personnel who finally defeated the French army of Napoleon, and reconstituted the reign of Ferdinand VII.
