Slovakia, First Republic. A Pair of Medals

A pair of medals, including:

1. An Order of the Slovak Cross, Silver Medal, constructed of a silver, loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised Slovak Cross with its arms joined through the quadrants by a linden leaf wreath, overlaid by a leftward-facing profile of Andrej Hlinka, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “VERNÍ SEBE SVORNE NAPRED” (“BEING TRUE TO YOURSELF, GO FORWARD”), surrounding by laurel and linden leaves, situated above an an engraver's mark of “FŠ” for Fraňo Štefunko”, the edge bearing an illegible hallmark, measuring 32.94 mm in diameter, weighing 14.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.

2. A Medal for Heroism, I or III Class, constructed of bronze, on loop and clasp for suspension from a period original III Class ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.05 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition (note: traces of gilt finish to the base metal indicate that the medal may have been issued as a I Class award, but is currently suspended from a III Class ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
