Description
(Orden Svetog Save). Instituted January 23rd, 1883. Type III (1921-1941 issue). A silver Maltese cross constructed of light blue and white enamels, each of the arms finished with dual ball finials, with Serbian double-eagles with shields on their chests in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse centerpiece shows the distinctive iconography of St. Sava in a green robe (Model III), surrounded by a gilded inscription within an oval ring of light blue enamels, the reverse with a matching oval centerpiece dated “1883” in gilt, decorated with a golden laurel wreath, suspended from a hollow swivel crown, pierced ball and dual swivel rings using its correct period-appropriate replacement neck ribbon, unmarked but crafted by either Huguenin, Sorlini, F. Zimmermann, or Griesbach & Knaus, measuring 41.1 mm (w) x 67.2 mm (l), weighing 26.12 grams, a well preserved example in overall better than very fine condition.
An Officer’s Cap Badge, constructed of silvered bronze, consisting of an oval shape with a central red enameled portion bearing the gilded Royal Cypher of Peter I, surrounded by blue and white enameled rings, the reverse plain, with dual downward-pointing pins for attachment to headgear, measuring 26.6 mm (w) x 34.2 mm (l), in better than very fine condition.
