Russia, Imperial. An Order of St. Vladimir, IV Class, by Keibel, c.1917

(Орден Святого Владимира, 4-я степень). Instituted 3 October 1782 (22 September O.S.) by Empress Catherine II. Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with red enameled arms trimmed with black enamelled borders, the obverse bearing a central black enamelled medallion overlaid by a hand-painted ermine mantle, topped by a crown presenting a monogram of Saint Vladimir, situated within a gilded ring, the reverse bearing a central black enameled medallion bearing a gilt instituted date of “22 СЕНТЯБРЯ 1782” (“22 SEPTEMBER 1782”), the reverse six o’clock arm bearing a K hallmark above a Dimitry Osipov maker mark (ДО), measuring 34.36 mm (w) x 38.48 mm (h), worn on a five sided ribbon suspension, demonstrating minor scratching and flecking throughout the enamels in addition to sporadic loss of gilt finish to the frame, a wartime example in near extremely fine condition.

Contained in a russian case, red leatherette exterior with an interior black velvet medal bed and silk lid, measures 118.5 mm (w) x 58 mm (h) x 20.8mm (d), light wear to exterior, hinge and clasp functional, in very fine condition.
