There are two rows of cord in fine gold-coloured wire interlinked in a chain pattern, the cord with matching dual adjustable sliders, running across the front between the gilt buttons on either side, each of the buttons bearing the Soviet Navy insignia, the underside of the visor in black wool. Inside, the underlying stiff framework on the sidewalls is wrapped in a black rayon, as is the dome of the cap. It incorporates a 45 mm wide leather sweatband with a light gray upper and supple underside, the sweatband with a series of slits, a sapphire blue ribbon fed through the slits, the ends of which are tied at the rear and forming a bow-tie, securing the ends of the sweatband together. The cap measures 285 mm in width x 290 mm in depth x 135 mm in height, generally free of mothing, exhibiting soiling and discolouration on the top, along a break in the cord on the lower strip of white piping at the rear of the cap;

The waist strap houses four 37 mm (w) x 54.5 mm (h) brass insignia, each of which features the post 1947 design "snarling/angry lions", as opposed to the formerly used "kind lions" design. The two lions placed in the centre of the belt have loops at the base for the suspension of the dagger hanger straps, the one at the far left with a loop on its right side and the belt fed through it and bearing a ring on the right side, the one at the far right with a loop on its left side and the belt fed through it and bearing a ring on the right side with a brass S-shaped snake clasp, designed to be joined to the ring on the left end.
