Romania, Republic. An Order of the Star of the People’s Republic, III Class in Case

Type I, 1948 Issue. A scarce decoration, in bronze gilt and enamels, featuring a red and blue enamelled five point star with clusters of smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presenting the monogram RPR, reverse bearing the date 30 DECEMBRE 1947, measures 46.6 mm (w) x 53.3 mm (h), on original ribbon, light wear and areas of oxidation, remains very fine. Contained in the original case of issue, burgundy exterior marked ‘Ordinul Steaua R.P.R. Cl. III’ and interior marked MONETARIA NATIONALA, denoting manufacturer by the royal mint, measures 68mm (w) x 125 mm (h) x 22 mm (d), wear to exterior, functional hinge and clasp, remains near very fine.
