Norway, Kingdom. An Order Of St. Olav, Ii Class Commander, Military Division, By J. Tostrup

(Den Kongelige Norske Sankt Olavs Orden). Instituted in 1847. Type II (105-1937). In silver gilt, a white enamel Maltese Cross with ball finials, a crowned O in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a rampant lion holding an axe on a red enamel field with a white, blue, white ring exterior, the reverse medallion presents the inscription RET OG SANDHED, the cross is surmounted by crossed blue enameled swords and a crown with white, red, and blue enamel features, measures 63.5 mm (w) x 88mm (h – inclusive of surmounting crown), on original ribbon, enamels intact, a lovely decoration in near mint condition.

Contained in its case of issue, a dark red leatherette exterior, the interior lid marked TOSTRUP 1832, the base features a removable red velvet medal bed, with storage component for ribbon below, scuffs to exterior around corners and on lid, hinge and catch functional, a case in near extremely fine condition.
