(Den Kongelige Norske Sankt Olavs Orden). Instituted in 1847. In 18K Gold, an exquisite decoration, comprising a Maltese cross of white enamel arms with ball finials, a crowned O monogram in each quadrant, the obverse medallion featuring a rampant lion on a red enamelled field, the reverse medallion presents the inscription RET OG SANDHED, the cross is surmounted by a crown with small enamel details, measures 41.1 mm (w) x 60.7 mm (h), weighs 15.47 grams, worn on original ribbon, very minor enamel cracks in the arms, in near mint condition. Accompanied by a small boutonniere.
Contained in its original case of issue, a brown leatherette exterior marked DEN KGL. NORSKE St. OLAVS ORDEN with a central crown, the interior silk lid marked TOSTRUP1832 denoting maker, the base offers a rich red velvet medal bed, measures 65 mm (w) x 97 mm (h) x 27 mm (d), virtually no rare, in near mint condition.
