(Atzinības krusts). Instituted in 1938. Three-piece construction, in bronze gilt with red, dark blue, light blue, green and white enamels, measuring 36 mm (w) x 56.5 mm (h) inclusive of its cluster of eight rings suspension, intact enamels, scattered gilt wear, original ribbon with safety pin attachment, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Cross of Recognition was instituted on August 12, 1938 and is based on an award instituted on May 13, 1710 in the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. It is awarded for outstanding love of the Fatherland and for achievements on behalf of the state, the people of Latvia, to Latvians and and foreigners for meritorious services within civil and military realms, and Latvian culture. Recipients were recognized for rendering service within the development of the military, patriotic endeavours, and championing public order and national security. It is awarded in four grades, along with five types of medals.
