(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted February 20th, 1868. (c. 1910). Constructed of 18kt Gold and enamels, consisting of a Cross with rounded white enameled arms and knots in the quadrants between the arms, the obverse center features a blue enameled field with a Lombardy crown with red, green, and white enameled details, surrounded by a gold ring, the reverse medallion features a black enameled eagle with a red and white enameled shield on its chest, surrounded by a gold ring, suspended from an elongated swivel loop from its period-original neck ribbon divided into three bands of red-white-red stripes, unmarked, measuring 49.8 mm (w) x 52.6 mm (l), weighing 17.60 grams. The award is housed in the original case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a red faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid stamped with the monogram of Victor Emmanuel, the interior of the lid lined with off-white silk stamped “E. Gardino Succ - D. Cravenzola Gioielliere - Roma”, with dual exterior metal hinges and an intact interior fabric hinge cover, measuring 80 mm (w) x 134 mm (l), in better than extremely fine condition.
