(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted on February 20th, 1868. An Order of the Crown of Italy, the sash badge, in Gold, a white enamel cross with savoy knots in each quadrant, the obverse medallion featuring a Lombardy crown on a blue enamel field, the reverse medallion featuring a black enamel eagle, measures 51.1 mm (w) x 55.9 mm (h - inclusive of suspension ring), weighs 55.2 grams (including ribbon), worn on a segment of a grand cross sash, very minor chips in white enamels, in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by a Grand Cross Star, in silver, an eight point star featuring clusters of alternating smooth and faceted rays, the obverse medallion featuring a Lombardy crown on a blue enamelled field, surrounded by a Gold ring then a white ring inscribed VICT. EMMAN. II. REX. ITALIAE. MDCCCLXVI, encircled by a ring of gilt facets, surmounted by a black enamelled eagle on the 12 o’clock arm, reverse presenting a vertical pin suspension, the cartouche of CRAVANZOLA ROMA below the base, underside of pin is marked 900 with Italian silver marks, measures 87.0 mm (w) x 88.3 mm (h), weighs 72.12 grams, enamels intact, medallion and cartouche loose and will spin, hinge and clasp functional, in extremely fine condition.
