Italy, Kingdom. An Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus, Grand Officer Set in Gold

(Ordine dei Santi Maurizio e Lazzaro). Instituted in 1434. A Grand Officers Set, consisting of an 18 kt Gold neck badge, a white enamelled shamrock cross with the arms of a green rays of a Maltese cross in each quadrant, the reverse mirrors the obverse, surmounted by a large hollow Gold crown, worn on a full length original green neck ribbon, measures 54.5 mm (w) x 86.5 mm (h), weighs 24.24 grams, the cross atop the crown and the suspension loop is marked with an eagle head denoting french manufacture and Gold composition, worn on original green silk neck ribbon, enamels intact remains in extremely fine condition. 

The Star of the set, in silver, a four point star of faceted rays, the obverse medallion superimposed featuring a white enamel shamrock cross with the arms of a green rays of a Maltese cross in each quadrant, the reverse with a single vertical pin flanked by dual stays, measures 80.7 mm (w) x 81.1 mm (h), weighs 38.5 grams, unmarked, large enamel chip at 6 o’clock and crack on 12 o’clock arm, lovely patina on the arms, in extremely fine condition.
