(Ordine Supremo della Santissima Annunziata). Instituted in 1362. Case with a pebbled exterior in cerulean blue on all six sides, the lid trimmed in two rows in gold-coloured ink, a wider row on the raised portion of the lid, with a narrower row along the edge of the lid, inside lid in navy blue satin, padded and exhibiting the impression of the formerly present Breast Star of the Order, medal bed slotted a the top portion for the Breast Star, framed by a recessed channel around it for the Collar Chain of the Order, the channel terminating below with a wide recessed area for the Badge of the Order, dual-hinged along the back edge, clasp closure at the front edge, measuring 170 mm in width x 280 mm in height x 43 mm in depth, exhibiting light soiling overall on the cerulean blue pebbed exterior. Near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation is a Roman Catholic order of knighthood, originating in Savoy and instituted in 1362. It eventually was the pinnacle of the honours system in the Kingdom of Italy, awarded for distinguished service to the Kingdom. It ceased to be a national order when the Kingdom became a Republic in 1946. Today, the order continues to be awarded privately as a dynastic order under the jurisdiction of the Head of the House of Savoy. SAP: 500
