(Ordine della Corona d'Italia). Instituted February 20, 1868 by Emmanuel II. A Grand Officer Set, the neck badge in Gold, a white enamelled cross with savoy knots in each quadrant, the obverse featuring a lombardy crown on a blue enamel field, the reverse medallion featuring a black enamelled eagle, measures 50.3 mm (w) x 53.1 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), weighs 15.70 grams, worn on original neck ribbon, light wear, extremely fine.
The Breast Star, in silver, featuring eight faceted arms with large ball finials, the central medallion presenting the white enamel cross with Savoy knots in the quadrants, the lombardy crown on a blue enamelled field encircled by a Gold ring, the reverse of the star presenting a vertical pin assembly, unmarked, measures 72.7 mm (w) x 71.1 mm (h), weighs 56.9 grams, wear to silver, enamels intact, hinge and clasp functional, extremely fine.
Accompanied by a miniature of the order, in silver, gold and enamels, measures 15.6 mm, with a large suspension ring, light wear, extremely fine; and a boutonniere in the form of a ribbon with two crown devices.
Contained in original case of issue, featuring a read leatherette exterior with gilt markings denoting a crowned VE monogram, the interior with a partial black velvet medal bed, creme coloured silk interior denoting UNION MILITARE ROMA, measures 120 mm (w) x 220 mm (l) x 45 mm (d), light wear, functional catch and hinge, in very fine condition.
