Italy, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown of Italy, Grand Cross Set by Borani, in Case

(Ordine della Corona d'Italia). Instituted in 1868. A lovely set, consisting of the badge of the order, a white enamel cross with Savoy knots in each quadrant, the center medallion with a Lombardy Crown on blue enamels, reverse bearing a black enamelled eagle, measures 49.8 mm (w) x 53.7 mm (h), weighs 16.8 grams, accompanied by a full length sash, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition. The Star of the order, in silver featuring an eight point star with alternating faceted and smooth rays, the obverse medallion featuring a Lombardy Crown on a blue enamelled field, surrounded by a white enamel ring inscribed VICT. EMMAN. II . REX. ITALIAE. MDCCCLXVI, a black enamelled eagle on the 12 o’clock arm, the reverse with a vertical pin, measures 78.3 mm (w) x 78.5 mm (h), weighs 77.55 grams, enamels intact, pin and hinge functional, in extremely fine condition.  

Housed in original case of issue, a red leatherette exterior marked with a crowned U on the exterior, the interior featuring a rich purple velvet medal bed with sash compartment at 12 o’clock, the interior lid marked FLLI BORANI ROMA TORINO, measures 138mm (w) x 311 mm (l) x 55mm (d), staining and wear to exterior, hinge and clasp functional, in very fine condition.
