(Magyar koronás érmek). Instituted in 1923. Two-piece construction, in bronze gilt, marked "BRONZ" (bronze) on the edge, measuring 32.2 mm (w) x 50.8 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, tiny edge nicks, on its original triangular wartime ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, red pebbled exterior on five sides, the bottom in forest green, the lid embossed with the Royal Hungarian crown in gold-coloured ink, inside lid in white rayon and padded, base incorporating a recessed medal bed in white felt, measuring 67 mm (w) x 109.5 mm (h) x 20.7 mm (d), light wear on the exterior, with soiling evident in the white felt of the medal bed, case near very fine.
Footnote: The Signum Laudis Medal was established in June 1923 and was identical for military and civilians, the awards to civilians on a plain green ribbon, awards to the military on a green ribbon with white and red edge stripes, on a red ribbon with white and green edge stripes for wartime service, with awards for life saving on a ribbon with alternating red and white stripes. The medal was suppressed on February 14, 1945.
