Hungary, People’s Republic. An Order of the Flag of the People’s Republic of Hungary, II Class Star with Case

(A Magyar Népköztársaság Zászlórendjének II. fokozata). Instituted 1956. (1956-1991 issue). Constructed of a gilded silver alloy with multi-coloured enamels, obverse consisting of a multi-pointed starburst with ribbed and pebbled rays, bearing a central circular and green enameled laurel wreath defaced by a Hungarian national flag, the reverse with four visible blasted rivets securing the obverse insignia in position, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 72.04 mm (w) x 71.28 mm (h), weighing 57.6 grams, accompanied by a matching ribbon bar miniature, measuring 40 mm in length and featuring a horizontal pinback, both unmarked and secreted within their original case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted white velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 12 cm (w) x 13 cm (l) x 4.5 cm (h), demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, in overall extremely fine condition.
