Greece, Kingdom. An Order of the Redeemer, Knight's Cross, in Gold, c. 1900

(Τάγμα του Σωτήρος). Instituted May 20, 1833. Type II (1863-). In 18K Gold, a white enamelled Maltese cross with green enamelled wreath in each quadrant, surmounted by a crown, the obverse bearing a distinctive iconography of Jesus, surrounded by a blue enameled ring with the inscription Η ΔΕΞΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΕΙΡ, ΚΥΡΙΕ, ΔΕΔΟΞΑΣΤΑΙ ΕΝ ΙΣΧΥΙ ("Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power", Exodus, 15:6), the reverse bearing the coat of arms of Greece, surrounded by a blue enameled ring with the obverse inscription, on correct ribbon, 55.6 mm (h) x 34 mm (w), weighs 12.76 grams, enamels intact, extremely fine condition.

Footnote: The Order of the Redeemer was established in 1833, three years after the decree of establishment. It is the oldest and highest decoration awarded by the modern Greek state.
