(Τάγμα του Σωτήρος). Instituted on May 20th, 1833. Type II (1863-1924). A Grand Officer Set, the neck badge in silver gilt, a white enamelled Maltese cross with a green enamelled laurel and oak wreath in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a circular central medallion bearing a delicately hand painted portrait of Jesus Christ, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring inscribed “Η ΔΕΞΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΕΙΡ ΚΥΡΙΕ ΔΕΔΟΞΑΣΤΑΙ ΕΝ ΙΣΧΎΙ” (Thy Right Hand, O Lord, is Majestic in Strength), the reverse with a blue enamelled circular central medallion bearing a white enamelled Greek cross, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring inscribed “Η ΕΝ ΑΡΓΕΙ Δ ΕΘΝΙΚΗ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ ΣΥΝΕΛΕΥΣΙΣ ΑΩΚΟ” (The Fourth National Assembly of the Hellenes at Argos - 1829), the cross is surmounted by a large hollow crown with a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period original full length neck ribbon, unmarked, measures 49.5 mm (w) x 77.3 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension), weighs 56.35 grams (including ribbon), small areas of enamel wear on the arms and inscription ring, in better than extremely fine condition.
The Star of the Order, in silver, an eight point star with clusters of five faceted rays per arm, the obverse medallion bearing a delicately hand painted portrait of Jesus Christ, surrounded by a blue enamelled ring inscribed “Η ΔΕΞΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΕΙΡ ΚΥΡΙΕ ΔΕΔΟΞΑΣΤΑΙ ΕΝ ΙΣΧΎΙ” (Thy Right Hand, O Lord, is Majestic in Strength), the reverse features a vertical pin flanked with dual stays, marked on the pin with an LA 800 denoting the maker and silver fineness, measures 76.4 mm (w) x 77.3 mm (h), weighs 72.1 grams, enamel damage to the obverse medallion, in near very fine condition.
Contained in the original case of issue, a dark blue leatherette exterior with a crown stamped on the lid, the interior lid marked HUGUENIN FRERES & CO., dark blue velvet medalbed in the base, measures 115 mm (w) x 250 mm (l) x 42 mm (d), light wear to exterior, ripped silk over the interior hinges, hinge and clasp functional, in extremely fine condition.
